Where to go for a business lunch... Mr B's Bistro & Bar (201 Royal St in the French Quarter; tel:504-523-2078
Where to go for the wine (plus dinner)...The wine cellar at Brennan's (417 Royal St in the French Quarter; tel:504-525-9711) is virtually unsurpassed in New Orleans.
Where to go for French cuisine...Louis XVI (829 Toulouse St in the French Quarter; tel:504-581-7000)- city's first French restaurant and still the finest.
Where to go for Cajun food...Copeland's (4339 St Charles Ave in Uptown; tel:504-897-2325). Another good choice is Brigtsen's (723 Dante St in Uptown-Riverbend area); tel:504-861-7610)- menu changes daily; great choices.
Where to go for Creole food...Praline Connection (542 Frenchman St in Faubourg Marigny; tel: 504-943-3934)- great red beans and rice.
Where to go for great desserts (plus the food)...Commander's Palace (1403 Washington Ave in the Garden District- Uptown; tel:504-899-8221)- from Creole bread pudding to Bananas Foster and everything in between.
Where to go for Italian cuisine...Bacco (310 Chartres St in the French Quarter; tel: 504-522-2426. Also try Pascal's Manale in Uptown (1838 Napoleon Ave; tel: 504-895-4877).
Where to go for great New American cuisine...Emeril's (800 Tchoupitoulas St; tel:504-528-9393)- very innovative dishes.
Where to go for the best burgers in town...Ask anyone in town and they will tell you to head for Port of Call (838 Esplande at the edge of the French Quarter; tel:504-523-0120)- giant burgers and enormous baked potatoes.
Where to go for steaks...Ruth's Chris Steakhouse (711 N Broad St; tel:504-486-0810)- best beef around. A close second is Houston's (one in Uptown-Garden District and the other in Metairie).
Where to go for outdoor dining and great food...Bayona (430 Dauphine St in the French Quarter; tel:504-525-4455)- one of my personal favorite's; beautiful, quiet, and fairly secluded courtyard; great on lovely spring afternoon.
Where to go for the best afternoon tea...Everylone loves spending an afternoon in Le Salon at the Windsor Court hotel (300 Gravier St in downtown; tel:504-523-6000).
Where to go for the view and great food...Nothing beats Bella Luna (914 N Peters in the French Quarter; tel: 504-529-1583)- you'll not only enjoy great italian food, nut you'll be treated to a moonlight view of the Mississippi.
